    Married Type: unproven relationship
    • This relationship is not proven and is included here based on the child that Leah had who she named Adoniram Warner Smith. At the time of conception, Adoniram (the senior) would have been widowed with children. As well, at this time, Leah had been away from her parent's home as a live in housekeeper. It makes logical sense that Adoniram may have acquired the services of Leah after his wife died. It also makes sense that Leah would have known Adoniram's first cousin, Philander who became a widower himself from his 2nd wife.

BIOGRAPHY: Buried in plot #145. Its possible that they were married in the E. Methodist Church which is now the Castleford United Church. All the records in this church were destroyed in a fire. Leah and Philander's wedding was held up by a quite a few years. Philander promised to marry Mary Jamieson, dau. of Mary Eady. It seems by refusing to give up her engagement ring, Mary could prevent Philander from marrying someone else. Only when Mary finally married Arthur Humphries, did that free Philander to marry Leah. I have a photograph of her tombstone.
